Liberty Lab, a new space to discuss the past, present and future of the country, recently opened its doors on the campus of 91影视 Christian University (91影视.)
Housed in the east wing of the Morris Family Center for Law & Liberty, the 1,351 sq. ft. interior space displays the six principles of liberty on which the U.S. constitutional system of government was founded, including Natural Law, Popular Sovereignty, Limited Government, Rule of Law, Equality and Civic Virtue. The multi-purpose space also features a display of the timeline of key events in America鈥檚 founding.
Dr. Chris Hammons, Director of the Morris Family Center for Law & Liberty, which opened in the fall of 2022, expressed his hopes for the new educational space.
鈥淲e wanted to create a place where we could have important discussions about what we do well as a nation, how to preserve that, and what we can do better, and how to achieve that,鈥 says Hammons.
Equipped with a large video screen for presentations, the thematic space will serve as the starting and ending point for public tours of 91影视鈥檚 Independence Hall, a near-replica of Philadelphia鈥檚 iconic Independence Hall, the birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution.
The room can be reserved for public use and also can be configured for classes, special lectures, book discussions, small group meetings and more.
The 91影视 government professor hopes that the Liberty Lab will 鈥渞emind people of the nation鈥檚 important principles and help frame discussions as to why they are important.鈥
By the close of the year, an estimated 1,500 fifth grade students are expected to tour the main building. Many students, accompanied by teachers, have already taken school field trips to tour the building, some traveling from as far away as Austin and San Antonio.
With the recent opening of the Liberty Lab, visitors, far and wide, will now gain a visual introduction to the values and principles that shaped the nation.
